Panthers Crush West Campus 35-7
September 10, 2025

The Panthers have played teams that are collectively 20-8 during the non-league season. In other words, there have been no gimmies on the schedule. By design, Florin has played a rigorous preseason schedule preparing the Panthers for success in the Greater Sacramento League.

Florin managed to overcome injuries to top players by developing a next girl up mentality. Senior Maria Ortiz, Jazira Arteaga Khandilyan, Jazz Landers and Junior Kamaeh Davis stepped up immensely learning new positions in days.

Mistakes were made, but the lady Panthers began to learn as the game went on.

West Campus scored first.

Panther - West Campus Highlights

“A few weeks ago, we would have crumbled. Today we were more determined, applied pressure and they crumbled”, Coach Mike Harris said to EliteBlueChip after the game.

Jayda Lewis moved to the premier offensive position in Coach Harris’ offense besides the QB. Zavanna Payne moved to QB.

“Jayda as QB1 should know what everyone does on offense. That’s why she moved to the Halfback position. Jayda also can catch the ball. With Janiya out, we believed it gave us the best opportunity to win”, Coach Harris indicated.

Lewis had a day. In the slot, Lewis caught a pass, ran for a touchdown and was moved back to QB and threw a TD to Zavanna Payne. The switch put the West Campus defense on their heels not knowing who was QB1.

Both played well, but Paris Jones was courageous. Jones playing all week with a deep quad contusion, was getting mauled by the Warrior defense. Jones got up slowly run after run, but kept limping up.

Jones scored twice on the ground, but the most electrifying run was a punt return in the 3rd quarter that put the nail in the West Campus coffin. Jones picked up the bounce, bolted down the Florin sideline then cut it back to the opposite West Campus sideline with no evidence of a limp. The Senior captain, led by example, played with pain and never quit. Jones’ 54 yard punt return put the Panthers up 35-7.

Coach Harris emptied the bench and everyone played. The young freshman gained valuable playing time and experience, while the starters were allowed to ice their wounds.

The Panthers play the Burbank Titans this Monday hoping to be 3-0 in League which has been the plan the entire time.

Play the best teams in preparation for League.
