Panthers Dominate Titans 32-6
September 17, 2024

The Burbank Titans arrived at Panther Park located in the beautiful confines of Florin HS on an uncanny autumn day in Sacramento. It was 74 degrees and breezy. Suddenly the valley was absent of scorching temperatures and the Lady Panthers loved it and rolled the Titans in dominating fashion 32-6.

The Panthers executed on offense, the defense pulled flags, the cheerleaders were rocking, it was a great night for Florin Flag Football.

Jayda Lewis had arguably her best day of the year going 9 for 16,  177 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Even sophomore receiver Janiya Brister got in the action and threw a flea flicker pass to Zavanna Payne for a touchdown.

“I should just never throw another pass and keep my perfect QB rating at 166.7”, joked Janiya Brister.

Brister continues to be a playmaker for the Panthers, adding 2 more catches for 45 yards.

Aneesa Perkins has emerged as a legitimate threat for Florin catching 4 balls for 90 yards and scoring rushing for 73 yards on 4 carries and a Touchdown.

Coach Harris added, “Aneesa is lightning fast when she wants to be. Aneesa has been getting loose on the Xriss Xross and on that Post/ Wheel combo.

Senior Erin Foster continues to be the catalyst of the offense, rushing for 61 yards on 4 carries and a touchdown. In addition to 2 more catches for 32 yards and a touchdown.

“Erin is a two way starter in the slot and strong safety. She rarely leaves the field. Erin Foster is not only a great player, but an outstanding human being” Coach Harris bragged.

Defensively, nine Lady Panthers got in on pulls with defensive back Katelyn Chan and Kat Doonan leading the pack with 5 flag pulls a piece. Naomi Belcher, A’yahna Phillips, Paris Jones, Ashley Magana, Blanca Rios Garibay and Erin Foster all were in on flag pulls.

“These student-athletes show resilience each day and continue to provide a positive energy that inspires and motivates the entire student body, staff and myself”, Coach Marquez glowingly remarked.

The girls were extremely excited to finally put together a game from start to finish. The team took a post game picture with the cheerleaders. It was a great night for Florin Flag Football.

We will enjoy this win tonight, but tomorrow is a new day. We have to bounce back and play Kennedy”, Coach Harris told Elite Blue Chip, “Kennedy will be a different team when we see them again.”

The Panthers play the Kennedy Cougars the following day in Wednesday action. Tomorrow’s game is what experts call a trap game.

Kennedy lost to the Panthers 18-6 in a much closer battle than the score would indicate. Kennedy has had an entire week to prepare for Florin and the Panthers have shown to struggle on the road.
