September 15, 2025
The Lady Panthers of the Gridiron went on the road to 3500 Florin Road to take on the Burbank Titans.
The Titans were not ready.
The Panthers put 46 points on the Titans while keeping them out of the endzone.

Janiya Brister intercepting a ball against CO, suffered a knee injury against Elk Grove
causing Coach Harris to shuffle the players on offense and defense.

Despite having to overcome a wave of injuries, the Lady Panthers were determined to find a way to keep getting wins in the Greater Sacramento League.
In a foreshadowing of how the day was going to be for Burbank, Jayda Lewis took it to THE HOUSE on the first snap of the game. Lewis, playing halfback in the absence of Janiya Brister, did it all. Lewis would rush for a touchdown, throw a touchdown and catch a touchdown as Burbank was no match for the Panthers.
Paris Jones also had a great day for Florin, rushing for 121 yards, two touchdowns and two extra point conversions.

Zavanna Payne, playing Quarterback, threw a touchdown, ran one in, then caught a 44 yard ball from Lewis for a TD.
" We have had to 'shuffle the deck' to accommodate the injuries. Jazz Landers moved outside. Jazira is snapping the ball. Jayda moved to halfback due to her knowledge of the system and Zavanna to QB is a lot for the girls to absorb."
It didn't matter. The offense looked like they had been playing there all year long.

Two Way starters Rhian Fitzgerald out indefinitely with a torn ACL
and Jazira Arteaga Khandilyan out with a thumb injury
has forced the Panthers to adopt a "next girl up' mentality.

Moreover, the defense shut out the Titans with numerous pressures and sacks by Naomi Belcher, Veanna Flores and Ana Guzman. Lewis, playing linebacker, and Jazira Arteaga Khandilyan blitzed the Burbank quarterback all evening.
Jazz Landers came up with another interception, now leading the league with nine picks in eleven games. Kam Davis played outstanding.
Coach Harris said, “We did what we were supposed to do. So proud of the ladies playing hurt, new positions. We stuck together and are still in the hunt for a GSL Championship Banner.
